The 270 in my 370 grain truck was running great, so I was able to send to someone that needed one, I have a 302 for the next one.
I would encourage you to keep your drivetrain all GM, a little effort can get your engine up and running again without having to make new mounts, linkages, controls, etc., again to have an oddball truck.
