The vent glass slides out of the frame. The tape is holding it in place. There may be room enough to switch it out in place, not sure. I will have to look at my truck since I had not considered that.

2nd question - within the door panel (remove the interior panel) you will find an access opening that allows you to tighten the vent window spring.
