Jon G - parts carbs are not a problem, they just gravitate to you.

Lets take an example of the W-1 483s, and 574s.

You shop on Ebay. You pay NO attention to what the vendor writes, you look at the carburetors.

You buy 10 of them. You can expect you can fully restore (assuming you have new parts backup) 3 of them. You can restore less the choke bracket an additional 4. So out of 10, you can retail 3, and semi-retail 4 or a total of 7. And you have 3 parts carburetors.

If you buy 20, the semi percentage will increase to maybe 9 plus the 6 full retail. Again, you have more parts carburetors.

The two limiting parts are the afore-mentioned choke bracket, and the bowl cover (the inlet on some will have been cross-threaded). You should have new part backup for linkage, jets, rods, springs, plugs, etc.
