I can control clearances down to a fraction of a thousandth with my Sunnen machine, and I've fitted hundreds of king pin bushings on the same type of machine over the past 50+ years. A reamer is sort of like "measure it with a micrometer- - - -mark it with chalk- - - -and cut it off with an axe!" The mechanics at my father's shop were fitting kingpin bushings with a hone back in the early 1950's, so the idea isn't exactly something new.
