Just as a follow up to this--I didn't realize this at first, since the truck was making so many other noises,
I had to share an experience on this point
not tranny related, but on the second run ever around the block with my panel truck, I had so many noises going on that I was in a panic- alot of clanking and banging. I was wondering what was going to need to be rebuilt next!
I suddenly remembered that I had made a small pile of all of the metal scrap parts that were in the truck when I first got it 4 years ago, and they were still in the back by the passenger barn door. I removed them all, and voila! No more noises! And, I didn't have to pay a mechanic for that fix LOL
