tclederman As I understand it now non-detergent oil should be used in air compressors to keep down foam,in the olden days when shellx100 came out it was high detergent oil. There was a powerful stink about using it in older engines 'cause they would then drink oil. As higgh compression took over detergent oil found it's place !!
