| | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | A stamped Engine Serial Number that does not match the Block Date Casting Code is an indication that the engine might be a replacement engine - the earlier Engine Serial Number was stamped on the the later engine/block when it was installed in 1957 (or later) as a replacement engine. This is a relatively common occurrence, especially in states that used the Engine Serial Number for registration/title. | | |
