That's not the best example of how to mount an in-bed fuel filler. First, they don't have to be mounted that high; they can be mounted below bed-level so as to not stick up and interfere. Another option is to put a flush filler door in the bed, either by using an aftermarket filler door, or by cutting and hinging the original wood for a perfect blend.
