All of the pictures I've seen show the letters painted black. One thing very few people seem to get right is the paint details on the front of these trucks. Check out the GM Heritage Center website if you want to know how these trucks were originally built.

This is very common in the 1970's brochures. Pictures in the accessories sections of the brochures usually weren't updated yearly, since they were there to illustrate the accessory, not necessarily the yearly changes.
