Right on! When I was installing the brake shoes and putting in the lower pivot pin and clip washer, the shoes kept flopping around. So the rachet strap did the trick and by keeping it near the outside edge it enabled me to reinstall the wheel cylinder and have everything in place for the spring endeavor coming up! Jerry did it again and I am so grateful for the all thread and drilled washer suggestion. Instead of pulling and shaking like a Boy Scout at his first visit to the archery range I was able to prestretch and insert the washers. I put in the washers alternating their position so I could easily remove them later. Once released from the jig I was able to hook the spring into the forward shoe and with a gentle pull and some wiggling the spring found its home. Kind of wish the hole was a slot since it makes it difficult to work the hook all the way into the hole. However, not having to struggle with the pull made it a simple task. The brake I have does not have the spring keepers and spring studs. Just a hole in each shoe. I was also able to find and replace all four adjuster pinions and placed a small line of anti seize behind them before swaging in place. Adjusting with a 5/8 " wrench is wonderfully easy compared to the frozen and dismembered originals that I found. I'm posting some pictures to help illustrate. Thanks again to everyone for your suggestions. There is a lot of wisdom out there to make up for what is missing in my shop! Ricster
