I was cleaning the grime off of my transmission (SM420) and changed the fluid in it (SAE90W Mineral oil) and noticed this decayed chunk of rubber sitting on top of the transmission. It sat sandwiched between the cab floor, (or access plate for the transmission) and transmission itself. Looks like it may be important out here in the desert to keep dirt and dust from wearing down the shifter where it meets the trans, A huge chunk is missing and it looks to have been for a long time now I was wondering if it looks like the sand got to it already (pic 3)
I have looked around online, Googe and LMC and classic industries, but cannot seem to find it anywhere. I was thinking if somebody knew what it was called that would help me search for it. (pic 1&2) Thank you in advance.
