Yeh, there was a very strong rumour that the el camino was inspired by the australian utes,
America had pickups, Australia went the path of utes.
Whilst it is a 1950 chev, the cab and body were fabricated by Holden, who in the 40's were coach builders for many manufacturers not car manufacturers themselves.
