I just noticed this discussion, so I’m late to the game. I was planning on painting outside, but now I might just build an enclosure like that!
I will be painting my ’47 Panel Truck interior. I notice there are two interior colors currently. There is what might be Graphite Brown Metallic on the dash, doors, most of the door frames, vent panels. There is also a Gray that is on the interior door frames, Interior roof above the windows, the seat riser, and the walls in the back. What color for the floor and interior firewall? What color for the strip across the front of the bed? What color for the strip across the rear of the bed, and the floor inside the rear doors? I understand the bed rails are Black.
I have read about the Graphite Brown Metallic for ’47-52, a modern substitite that looks close is RustOleum Dark Bronze Metallic #7272. I see it listed as the Medium, or Dark Tan Metalli-Chrome for ’47-’52, Sheen Gray Metallic for 1953 in the Tech Tips chart, and have heard it called Champaign or Grey Brown Enamel PT107e here. May be different for each set of years, different names, different paint formulas, different colors?
My truck is in good shape, I went and looked yesterday. I can see this interior color was applied before the exterior color evident by some overspray. The interior color on the door frames extends to include part of the exterior sheet metal. The exterior color ends just after the inward curve of the sheetmetal. The window trim is in a box and I didn’t look at that.
The Gray is listed as Pearl Beige in the Tech Tip for ’54. Is there a modern equivalent of the Gray? I do have plenty of original Gray that I might have it matched.
