If you get a T-5, the ones from behind the 4.3 have the longer splines already with the shorter bearing retainer. if you get one from behind the 2.5 or 2.8, you will need to extend the splines and cut down the bearing retainer. Transmissions from 82-84 have less ribbing on the tail shaft. Hope this helps. Scott
