Per Tim's link, looks like they used the engine serial number to identify your truck. Built at the Flint MI plant. Some Dealers/motor vehicle dept used that number as the VIN back then. You seem to indicate there is a "plate" on the truck with that number or you are assuming there is and haven't seen the truck in person ("number given for me"). If it is an original plate or an MVD supplied plate.....that's good. The motor was marked and I guess is long gone. (350 V8 now). If there is no plate to match to a Title VIN, that can be a headache during registration.
The EEA seems to indicate a 2T truck.
Tim's link, and my info, is right off of the GM Heritage Site. There was an early 47 and a late 47. 1947.1 and 1947.2. Body change and etc. Art Deco styling to Advance Design styling. I believe the 2T followed suit.
