Thanks HandyAndy. I bought a 49 that a gentleman pulled out of a farm field in California and started to restore. He installed a l31 5.7l vortec and 4L80e tranny . It has a Scott's front suspension and a 4-link rear end with bags. When he moved to Iowa, it sat in storage for 5 years and was never ran. I flushed the engine and cleaned the tank along with several other things and got it running. Still a lot of interior work to be done and of course the bed wood. The way he installed the rear shock mounts allows them to protrude higher than where the cross sills would of been so he has uni-strut going from bed side to bed side. I am unsure how the bed wood mounts and am curious if they could be mounted to the uni-strut. Looks like you have been around and tinkering with these trucks for awhile? You are welcome to make the drive to Kalona anytime so I can pick your brain:)

Take care!
Corey
