There is a point in time when replacement is necessary but you are very far from it. Time really has little to do with ignition parts. Usage and maintenance is the key. Check the adjustment on the points at the same time you change oil. Look over the plug wires for cracking at the same time. Inspect the inside of the distributor cap for arcing. All this can be done while the oil is draining. 30000 miles is not unusual for spark plug life with a properly tuned non oil burning engine. Keep a maintainer on the battery and StaBil in the gas for winter non-usage and come driving season you will be on the road with a big smile while the other guys are still waking their rides up.
