I am not much of a forum posting person but am in need of some serious help. So first off, I have a 1948 Chevy one ton and someone before me, did a terrible hack job so called restoration. What they really did was half repairs and paint.
So I have to replace the floor mount braces, rockers, inner cowl, and outer cowl, lower pillar by the hinge, and a section of the floor from the toe board half way through the battery box. There is other stuff, but this is what I am currently working on.
The issue; I have the floor repair cut and clamped in. I am fitting in the inner cowl panel where the heater box attaches all the way to the floor. I bought replacements from Jim Carter truck parts, I believe they have them manufactured for them. When I have that clamped in and try to fit the inner cowl arc piece that fits to the outer cowl, it seems to have a completely different radius at the bottom. It leaves a gap 3/8-1/2”. The arc is something the other person had put in. I don’t know where it came from, the bottom does not have the holes to attach to the end of the rocker. Has anyone had the same experience or have any insight on fitting these?
