If I had a 1950 Chevy truck, I would put a pipe plug in the tank outlet hole, Get rid of all that junk down there waiting to leak, waiting to squirt into your eyes, and would buy the sender that sucks out the top. Run metal line down and out. Short piece of rubber to the frame, back to metal tubing down the frame rail, short piece of rubber to fuel pump. Click.
