I finally got around to sourcing the hood supports for my '48 (see this thread -
https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/1378604/re-hood-supports.html#Post1378604). Some kind Stovebolters sent them to me already sandblasted and ready for paint. I've got some Kleen Strip Prep All that I can use to prep the metal for painting, but I'm wondering what would be best for painting these parts. (I plan on painting them black.)
Should I put on a base coat of primer (Rustoleum?) and then paint them gloss black? Or just paint them gloss black with a Rustoleum paint? Or do you recommend some other process? Since these are under the hood and fairly well-hidden, I don't feel the need to paint them the same color as the hood.
