As long as the pistons don't expand enough to create too much drag for reliable hot starting, all the angst about coolant temp is just something for snowflakes with lace on their drawers to obsess about. The thermostat sets the MINIMUM coolant temperature- - - -the cooling capacity of the radiator and the volume of air the fan can move is the determining factor of how steady the temp stays once the thermostat opens.
