I may be wrong, but I believe the 230, 250, 292 bellhousing will bolt up to a 350. The 216, 235, 261 bellhousings are interchangeble amoung themselves, and across the line to the gmc 228, 248, 270, and 302. They are not interchangeble with the v-8s however.
Most people who do the 350 swap also drop in a TH350 or 700R4 transmission. I like the idea of a 4 speed or 5 speed in there. It is still possible to do what you want, but you will have to fabricate a little bit more...
You may be able to find a bellhousing that is set up for a hydraulic clutch. Then you can get after market pedals that mount under the dash for the brake and clutch.
There are several bolters in the sac area with deco pickups (1941-1946). I'm sure you will find plenty of help. There are also several here on the bolt who are more knowledgeable than I am. Sit tight and I'm sure a few more replies will come in.
