I used a linear actuator on mine with limit switches to control where it stops and is controlled by the remote I use to open the doors and roll the windows up and down.
The actuator is a 75 lb lift unit, It opens and closes it with no effort.
I had to make the brackets to mount it to the dash and the vent along with the limit switch mount, but that was easy. Setting the limit switches is the time consuming part.
