I believe I read somewhere that the key cylinders with the wing were used on 47 AD trucks, then GM removed the wing. If it fits, it should work fine. I know that my family's 54 Chev station wagon had a raised tab the key went into (no wing/pointer), which won't work on a truck. It had key start with 3 positions and you could remove the key in the on position and it would still start and run the car. looked similar to the attached photo. Those won't fit an AD truck ignition lock.
