I too, was wondering how well the diecast parts would hold up. In addition to extra parts, he might want to think about making sure to run the carb out of fuel prior to any extended storage interval.
I think his best option is to try to locate a "tuner" or other carb specialist down there to help make the required modifications. I would think that there would be other vintage vehicle owners down there in the same boat. He can't be the only one facing this issue.
Plus, my wife has already seen pics of the beaches in Brazil, so there's no way she would let me go down there.

At least not by myself.

I used to share a cube with a guy who once raced alcohol powered drag boats. Can't remember what type of carb he was running, but I remember him also mentioning the challenges of trying to jet it enough to get enough fuel in the engine.
That's funny about confusing people with air bleeds vs jets. A world apart from the fuel injected era we live in now.
