We have a tall ceiling and an electric hoist so some of this info may not apply. Our lift beam is two 2x4's fastened together and with a foot long piece of 1/2" all thread about 6" from each end of the 10' long lift beam. The reason for this is to keep the chain/strap off of the roof and especially the drip rails which crush in easily. On an AD the lift point is at the very rear of the door opening but you will have to experiment. We also have tractor weights ( several each of 25, 50, and 100 pounds) which as the body is first starting to lift up can be placed on the floor to level the angle.
Here is a shot of our S10 chassis swap "mule" which is used for cab and core support mounts. Later we welded a properly spaced bed to the back of the mules cab so bed mounts could be fabricated also.

Lifting from above makes load want to stay stable while lifting from below results in "tipsy".
