For me, I went with a new 1-wire alternator because it cleaned up the wiring in the engine bay by getting rid of the extra wiring. Modern 1-wire alternators are becoming more prevalent. If your aftermarket wiring harness is made for a 1-wire alternator, you don't have to resort to installing a voltmeter. I'm just trying to help 1-wire people out, not convert anyone.
