Hy gpk1961, while 61 trucks are not my area of expertise I will offer hopefully helpful questions. Is there a non removable crossmember under the back of the engine? The earlier trucks which I am more familiar with that had that feature would not allow the transmission to come out with the engine. If your rear engine support crossmember is removable you will have to remove it to pull the engine and transmission together, hope that helps.
