I have used (for about 15 years) Cooper LT215/85R16 on standard 4.5" 16" wheels/rims on my 1954 3106 Suburban (I had to use radial inner tubes).

I have the same size Goodyear truck radial on the 1954 3104 pickup (no need for inner tubes in these wheels).

This size tire on standard 1954 3100 16" wheels have a 31.5" rolling diameter (and, they look like old truck tires - tall and "skinny").

At the correct air pressure (determined by setting/driving/adjusting), the ride is smooth and straight and steering is easy (and, no "wandering) at all speeds.

Added later: radial tire tubes for trucks
(scroll down for several brands)
