Get it running and stopping with ALL new brake lines, rubber and steel. Add at right tail light and turn signals for safety and drive it to see if it meets your expectations. The truck could be painted in clear satin finish which would protect it from the the weather and leave the patina look. Major modifications can come later if desired, these old trucks are easy to work on, but do require a little more hands on tinkering from time to time.
