So, to make a long story longer, I rebuilt a military 302, and a PO (ok, it was me) attempted to drill and cut out the block for a mechanical fuel pump. But, about half of the pump lever (right name?) sits on the camshaft. The hole was cut and tapped and is offset for the pump.
I made a 1/4” steel block off plate, and resigned myself to use an electric fuel pump.
The carbs I can use are a NOS Zenith single barrel for a 270, or a 2 barrel Stromberg. I have the intake to fit the 2 barrel.
What are the pros and cons to help me decide what direction to go?
And, I need advice on an electric fuel pump that would best fit the application.
Truck: 1950 GMC 1 ton. Dual axle, flat bed. 4.10 rear end 20” wheels. Local travel, not really highway travel.
Thank you.
