I had been awhile since I had started the engine, and when I did, it had a loud "thwack" near the top of the engine, passenger side.

I checked the pushrods, and couple had a slight wobble, but didnt get bent while idling. (checked with pushrod cover off, and holy crap what a mess)
After checking the lash adjustments twice, I decided to let it idle for 30 minutes, and the noise went away

Any ideas what the noise was and why it went away?
Edit: 235 engine, hydraulic lifters, '848 head, '7004 block, Langdon HEI, plugs gapped to .050.
