Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,756 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,756 | If you want something more effective than a simple resistance check of the windings, chuck a distributor in a vise, and use a battery and some primary wire to connect the coil like it would be in an ignition system. Then spin the distributor with a variable-speed drill motor clamped to the oil pump drive. The high voltage lead that would normally go to the center of the distributor cap should be able to jump a 3/8"-1/2" spark to ground every time the points break if the coil is good. Some coils don't spark well without a condenser in the circuit for some reason. Jerry
