I just got a similar distributor in a horsetrade, part # 1110499, and did a little measuring. With a bit of creative tinkering and machining it looks like it could be adapted to a 216/235/261 engine. It would still be a point-type unit, obviously, but doing that would eliminate the moving housing with the vacuum advance, and possible intermittent ground problems associated with the earlier distributor.
