For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 110 Member | | Member Joined: Jun 2006 Posts: 110 | I am all in favor of the S10 swap. I am currently dropping 38 truck sheet metal onto an 82 S10 regular cab frame and I am very happy with the way it fits. I bought an almost complete truck from our local bone yard for $80. They were very enthusiastic about the project and helped me find a good truck. It has a lot miles on it, but it was driven into the ard and all of it was there. Nice little 2.8 (mini mouse) and a 4 speed. I priced a myriad of other solutions and all were big bucks. I figure I'll be able to cherry out this chassis and drive train doing everything for $1000. If it cost me $3000 I figure I'll still be money ahead. S10 parts are widely available and pretty reasonable. I live in a rust free area so the chassis is in great shape and I got a great S10 long bed for my next trailer project too!
Joker thanks for the link. Good info on the site and some stuff I might need too. After the 38 is streetable, I plan on starting a 52 project and then a 66. Might be done then????
Jim
Good luck with your project!
