Find a '62 or earlier GMC 270 and it will bolt up to you existing bellhousing in your '50. You'll have to use the GMC flywheel.
The front mount is a little different in that the motor is longer.
Check the Tech Tips link at the top of this page. The story about swapping in a 302 will give you most the details you need. The 270 and 302 are almost identical externally.
