If looking at the junkyard scrape the top of the pumpkin and look for a set of numbers together, such as 38 and 7 (5.43), or 37 and 6 (6.17).
These are the numbers of teeth on the ring and pinion. Just divide the number of ring gear teeth by the number of pinion teeth.
