It might if the leak is between the manifold and the head. Not enough vacuum signal to pull idle fuel out of the well because it is all bleeding off at the gasket leak. Do you remember if you reinstalled the retaining rings? If not, you want to put them on and use a Rimflex intake/exhaust gasket. Best around, one piece, and seals better then any other gasket.
