| | | | Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 20 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Mar 2001 Posts: 20 | I have just added power steering to my 52 3/4 ton pu using a kit from chevy duty, a steering box from a 76 chevy pu, and a late gm column. It all works great except for one problem. I do not have the turning radius I did with the old set up. In fact when I have the wheel turned all the way right or left it seems that the tires are bearly turned at all. What could be the problem? I used the pitman arm provided in the kit and have adjusted the adjustable drag, but no improvement. I had the front end aligned and on the machine the wheels turned an equal 25 degrees each way but out on the road the turning radius is terrible. Could the pitman arm be the wrong length? It steers and handles great except for the cournering issue. Any ideas would be appreciated.
