I put heavy canvas where the missing anti squeak pads were and hooked it up.
I'd be concerned that the canvas would wick moisture over time and cause the new tank to rust...the original anti squeak was rubber.
If you haven't already done so, you should take this time to replace ALL of the steel and rubber brake lines. They may look fine on the outside, but they fail from the inside out!
