Yep bought it to drive from Los Angeles to Miami then ship home, car is/was wonderful just what I needed high and with enough room to put my wheelchair in the back. 400 V8 with 350 auto air con, cruise control new/old radio.
As it is a hot rod I had it checked out by a specialist company who visited it checked its bodywork engine box lights brakes steering etc. Slight wear on steering box, antenna broken and a slight amount of damage on the roof lining, great - except, they had only driven it around LA and so I agreed the purchase and put it in storage until I got over from France. That is when my problems started and because the brakes were floor mounted the exhaust ran pretty close to the servo and after a few miles on the interstate the rubber in the servo unit failed. I had noticed also that with running the ac in the summer the temperature in the motor was running very high. I came off the interstate and pulled into a residential street to call my breakdown company. Whilst I was waiting one of the householders came across to see if he could help. He had a C10 in a shop in Riverside and he called his guy to see if he could do anything. That is where this story starts.
We agreed to have the system moved to the firewall and to have new radiators fitted at the same time he would fit me a reconditioned steering box get me a new antenna an extra key and adjust one of the doors. This was in September 2016 we agreed to pay as the work had been done and I expected it here by December 2016. I returned home here to France and received the invoices $2350 dollars and paid them stage by stage until they said it was done but after that just excuse after excuse. My shipper Raymond at Rinkkens went above and beyond to help me get the car picked up and finally in February 2019 he managed to get it away from the garage. The photos of the bodywork he sent outlined the scratches and dents and chips all over the car. I said OK at least the car is in our possession and I would get a price to fix it and try to get some money back however as I mentioned in my previous post no work had been done except a bodge on the existing radiators eg I push the lever to release the hood and I push the fan into the radiator.
