I've got to join the I hate WIN10 chorus too, LOL. I'm running it on one of my machines, an older HP desktop and I'm only running WIN10 on it because one day long ago when I was younger and dumber I accepted MS's offer of a free upgrade to it once it became available.... One day I had a flawlessly working WIN7 machine and the next day a slow, unpredictable machine that wouldn't run 2 apps I constantly used...... It must have passed MS's hardware test since it upgraded but IMHO it's performance indicates it was either borderline or somehow cheated on the test LOL..... It takes forever to boot up and I've actually counted to 2 minutes before it would run a program after being taken off of the screen saver. Unfortunately I waited too late to revert back to WIN7 and keep all my data so Iive with it...
My main machine is a Dell WIN7 laptop that is currently sporting a new HDD. Since it does run the 2 apps I run the most I stayed with WIN7 on the HDD swap. Those 2 apps I run don't require the WWW for the majority of their usage so it may stay WIN7, we'll see....
I thought long and hard about an SSD drive but the new Toshiba 500gig HD only ran me $25 and free S&H so it won. The original went 7 yrs of constant use so I can live with it.
I've got another machine, an HP mini with an SSD running WINXP that I use for yet 2 more apps I use that wouldn't run on either the WIN7 nor WIN10 OS's. I do a little side work on the more mature friends of mine home networks and it comes in handy for testing wireless and pinging around LOL. It also runs my bore scope.... Other than testing it doesn't see much WWW time so I'm not overly concerned about it's now extinct OS.
I also have an old WIN98 eMonster sitting on the shelf but it doesn't get any usage now. Who knows it may be called into service after the nuclear electro-magnetic pulse, LOL...
Good thread, carry on.
