I installed the cowl vent gasket in my 53 one ton without removing the vent. It took a bit of tugging to get it around the back corners, but it went in pretty easily all in all. The tricky part was getting the weather stripping cement in. I ran a bead in the back lip before putting in the gasket, then lifted the rest of the gasket a bit at a time and squirted in the adhesive. Came out pretty good, although there was some cleanup involved afterwards.

I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again.
