It's hard to set the advance up without a distributer machine to check it. There aren't many of them around any more. You should have full advance by around 2200 rpms, but if your dist. doesn't have a vacuum advance, that may be too soon for highway cruising. The only way to tell, is to try lighter springs and test drive it. If you have no spark knock, you are ok. Find an adjustable timing light and time the engine at 3000 rpms to around 36 degrees. If it spark knocks, you will have to lower it until it doesn't.
