The upper brake pedal arm and the lower brake arm are bolted together outside the cab on the '55-59 trucks, so you unbolt the two arms to remove the upper arm, install the mat and then reinstall the arm through the mat hole/floor...are AD trucks done the same way?

Yes, AD trucks have two piece pedal arms. Simply unbolt and remove the upper half of the pedal arm, cut small hole in your flooring of choice, and bolt your pedal arms back together.
