I considered a lot of alternatives when I put a SBC crate in my '52 Suburban...cooling capacity and efficiency,fit, performance and long term cost...I decided on an exact fit aluminum radiator (Rodney Red) with a built in trans cooler coupled with an electric fan set-up..further I bought a radiator frame from "Chevs of the 40's" that dropped the radiator down to perfectly match-up with the V8. I'm planning on using the Burb(when it's finished)as a tow vehicle and cooling was a major consideration.
