Serious opinions are what you asked for...so here is mine: For the first thing with 2 of these you will have about 3 times the CFM rating the 235 needs. Let's go back and look at the equation: Cubic inch (235) x max RPM you expect to be using (let's say 3000...which with your gearing should be a good number) x efficiency factor (let's say .80...for a stock 235 it may be more like .75, however) = 564,000 divided by 3456 = 163. That means 163 CFM ought to be plenty for you. Each of the carburetors you're considering shows to have 240 CFM for a total of 480. 480 divided by 163 = 2.94. 294% too much. This is like filling a stewpot instead of a cereal bowl with your Post Toasties for breakfast. For the second thing, the post by Jon (CarbKing) a few days ago did an excellent job at describing the interference problem you will have with 2 carburetors on an inline six with siamese ports. For the third thing these carburetors were not designed for this engine at all. What I think you need to do is abandon the split exhaust and dual carb setup you have. Go back to a stock exhaust and intake manifold, make absolutely certain the heat flapper in the stock exhaust manifold works as designed, mount it all correctly and then put a properly rebuilt Carter carburetor on there. Make sure whoever rebuilds it pays attention to the fuel inlet orifice size and doesn't use what is being sold out there today. I posted this last summer when I was looking into these...the proper inlet orifice could be .76, it could be .81, depends on the model you have...the ones in the FLAPS type kits are going to be for Ford applications and are too large by 25% or more.
