So I bought this 1956 3800. Google search to find out what the vin might tell me, like what size 6 cylinder is in this truck, and found this forum.
I have been working as a light and medium duty truck mechanic for many years. This truck sure does take me back to a much more simpler time. I wanted something to take to the local car/truck shows and this is a good fit for me. I have been driving GM pickup trucks since 1974. The truck was living unused in a North Dakota barn or garage for many years. The transmission is stuck in first gear, and that is why it sat. The engine does run, the seller hooked a boat fuel tank to the carb and fired it up.
I'll start a thread and post my progress. Some things I remember, like point dwell should be about 40, but what is the part number for the oil filter??? I used to know that. VIN: 3G56Jxxxxxx
