If the fuel pump was weak, wouldn't it want to stall when the engine is cold too?
Nope. Think about it. When it's hot the fuel will have a tendency to vaporize. A weak pump can't pump enough to compensate. Not an issue with a cold engine, no vaporizing fuel.
