I have a 1958 v code step side. It has an original 283. Shifting from 2 to 3 the rod does not go all the way into 3rd. At the transmission the 2nd 3rd rod buts up against the reverse, first plate that holds the 1st, reverse rod. The transmission will go into reverse first and 2nd. The transmission was rebuilt is there anyway to put the shift shafts in the wrong location, or is this just miss adjusted.
